The Dancer
In the culture of my heritage, ceremony is an integral part of life. The spiritual is considered everyday and through prayer and offering the heart is kept clear and freely loving. Offering comes in the form of food, decorations, flowers and most importantly, the arts. Painting, sculpture, textiles, music, song and dance are all in service of offering which are intended as thanks to the divine and other entities which influence our world.

The Dancer is the embodiment of that human dedication to engage with the divine and other-worldly to ultimately assist in the harmony of this world. The dance is a perfection of body and movement, mastered with a discipline that begins early in life and is joyfully carried throughout the dancers days. The costume also designed and created in service to the dance is also in itself and offering to the divine.
To me the dancer is commitment personified. Commitment to art, a good life and the humility of understanding that we are not the greatest of all.
